In performance arenas worldwide, the Wolfgang Special is a pure musical beast: eye-catching design, ferocious sound and swift playability. Its basswood body is arched with a quilt maple top and anchored by a graphite-reinforced bolt-on quartersawn baked maple neck, shaped and rolled to Eddie Van Halen's exacting specs and buffed to a satin urethane finish. A 12"–16" compound radius fingerboard with 22 jumbo frets and black dot inlays guarantees fluid playing. Custom EVH Wolfgang Alnico 2 humbuckers and a sturdy Floyd Rose locking trem and nut pair for exact tuning and pitch-bending. A volume knob with 500K EVH Bourns low-friction pot and a tone control knob with 250K Bourns high-friction pot allows for precise sound manipulation, not to mention the EVH D-Tuna for quick retuning to drop-D.
