Since our certified instructors operate as independent professionals rather than store employees, please contact them directly using/clicking the QR code below or navigate to ‘Music Lessons’ on our website navigation bar. LESSON BOOKSBand directors require different lesson books, and exact needs often aren't clear until the semester begins. To ensure you get the right materials, note your band director's exact book requests before shopping online or visiting one of our stores. |
Fall Accessories ChecklistAlways be prepared for rehearsals, performances, and of course, at-home practice! Check with your student and make sure they have everything they need to keep going. ✔ Pad savers, swabs, and soft flexible brushes help remove built-up residue on mouthpieces, valves, keys, and water keys without scratching the surface. Saliva, which can chemically eat into brass and wood, will build up over time and leave debris so regularly maintaining your instrument ensures tone, airflow, and hygiene are in-check. If your instrument needs a little more work than you can manage, stop by one of our locations and check it in for a deep clean or chem clean. Keep in mind our shop is very busy during the summer. WOODWINDS✔ Reeds are fragile, wear out, and at times can act inconsistently. Having a few backup reeds is essential to playing any instrument that uses them! Storing them in a flat, humidity-controlled pack helps protect them further. ✔ Cork grease lubricates clarinet and saxophone joints, making them easier to assemble. It also protects the cork from tearing and cracking while creating an airtight seal to prevent air leaks! |
BRASS✔ Valve oil is a low-friction lubricant designed for the fast up-and-down action on trumpets, baritones, French horns, and tubas. ✔ Slide oil is a thicker, more viscous oil designed to block out air and moisture in trombone slides and brass tuning slides, preventing them from slipping or locking up. Both are equally as important for their intended use, just remember they serve different purposes! STRINGS✔ Bow rosin gives friction to the bow. Without it, your instrument will not be able to grip the strings and make a sound, or at least, a very pleasant sound. A good rule of thumb is to wipe away any residue from your instrument after each practice. ✔ Orchestral microfiber cloths work great for removing dust, dirt, and oils from your instrument and minimize the need for polish. Since traditional varnishes are very delicate, it’s best to avoid harsh chemicals when cleaning a violin, viola, or cello. ✔ In-Case Humidifiers will protect your instrument from cracking or warping by maintaining a steady environment.
