Fender American Vintage II 1966 Jazzmaster
The Fender® American Vintage II series incorporates the iconic designs that revolutionized music into its instruments. Constructed with historic bodies, necks, and hardware, plus top-of-the-line finishes and pickups designed for particular years, each instrument accurately reproduces the sound of genuine Fender quality.
Advertised as containing "all the well-known Fender developments" and offering "every convenience," the Jazzmaster® was designed to provide a luxury playing experience that would encourage jazz guitarists to switch to solid-body electric guitars. This comfort-contoured offset stands out from boxy archtop guitars, and while it never found popularity with traditional jazz crowds, it earned early acceptance with surf and later alternative, indie-rock, and even country players.
The 1966 Jazzmaster boasts a smooth maple neck with a 7.25" radius round-lam rosewood fingerboard and vintage tall frets. Its period-accurate features include white neck binding, pearl blocks, Fender Deluxe tuners, a painted headstock (on custom colors only), a patent-protected tremolo, adjustable bridge and threaded saddles, plus Pure Vintage '66 Jazzmaster pickups. When wired to the instrument's signature rhythm and lead circuits, these components deliver classic tonal expression with a genuine Fender feel.
