Fender Michael Landau Coma Stratocaster
Throughout his 40-year career as a guitarist, Michael Landau has been featured on countless recordings, becoming one of the most respected studio musicians. His peers consider him an unrivaled L.A. session star, delivering a unique, dynamic, and imaginative guitar sound on recordings for artists such as James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Michael Jackson, and Rod Stewart.
Mike's iconic 1959 Stratocaster®, now known as "Coma," was originally discovered at the age of 16 in a Los Angeles guitar shop. After being refinished and fitted with modified pickups, Mike was able to customize the instrument according to his changing technique and recording needs. With a minimalistic Dakota Red finish and handwritten "Coma" label, the guitar is recognizable, with variations in pickups, electronics, hardware and bridges used over the years.
This Michael Landau Coma Stratocaster offers a perfect blend of hardware and electronics. It houses custom ML Ultra Noiseless Strat® neck-and-middle pairings with a custom Wide Range humbucker in the bridge. Boasting a 6-screw vintage-style Stratocaster tremolo with steel block and Fender ClassicGear™ tuning machines, it has a ML-spec neck, a satin red lacquer body, and a Floyd Rose® route. Presenting a stunning nod to its colorful history, the guitar reflects the creative genius of its namesake.
Also included are a “Coma” sticker set, custom strap, Coma pick tin (with limited edition Michael Landau picks) and a custom Coma-embroidered hardshell case.
